If you are old enough to remember the drive-in, then you are probably old enough to remember horror movie ads. And though most may recall watching trailers on television, I vividly remember listening to ads on the car radio. I have been collecting these audio spots for a few years now, and I thought I would share my favorites here. They are posted for pure nostalgia only and I claim no ownership of them. Enjoy these great MP3s!

Man – I love these. Makes me want to go to the drive-in tonight. If we had one near, I would. Start early and do an all-night marathon. I’d watch ’em all.
I’ve always loved these old radio spots as well. There was so much creativity in them and they brought life to things in your mind much like the classic radio shows long ago did.
If you’re a major fan I would suggest you look to Cinema Wasteland for a few collections they’ve made of these sort of ads. They’re known for the bi-annual horror/exploitation events they put on in Strongsville, OH, just on the outskirts of Cleveland. Their next even celebrates STREET TRASH with a number of the cast and crew there. No I don’t work for them or get paid by them. LOL. I just happen to think they do a good job.
Speaking of which they have at least 5 volumes of RADIO SPOT APOCALYPSE available now, either there or on their web site which I’ll provide a link to here. Each is a compilation of these classic horror film ads, exploitation ads and drive in ads to listen to, a real treat. If you’re a fan you’ll want to add them to your collection like I did.
